Forbo
and
VPI esd flooring tiles are so dimensionally stable that
water jetted logo's and warnings may be inserted.
Custom cut warning tile and borders from
United SCP. |
In these extremely critical portable laboratories, heat
welded esd sheet flooring from Forbo provides "seamless"
static control protection while the heat welded seams
between the sheets provide mechanical protection from
water and chemicals. |

This
floor located in Tecate Mexico required over 500 lbs of
concrete Overlayment to repair severally pocked substrate.
When repaired we sanded and overlaid the repair with
conductive releasable adhesive. When this client moves
the floor with go with them! |
This
picture shows the invisible seams and gouge repair
capability of some esd flooring vinyl. Master flooring
mechanics can produce invisible welds with the proper
technique |

Looks
Easy and pretty straight forward right. Yea if you're
the owner of Gator aid, see below |
|
On this raised access floor for
Exxon Mobile the existing carpet tiles were dirty dingy and
SHOT. The client elected to use esd vinyl 2' x 2' 2mm
vinyl and our releasable adhesive to replace the carpet.
There are 2 methods of placing tiles over a raised access floor.

This
hard drive burn in oven (and our ESD premium
esd solid vinyl flooring) will experience a temperature up to 160 Deg at
55% rH! Temps will cycle! Just NOT suitable for typical ESD
Vinyl's or typical flooring installers! Material selected: 12" x
12" ESD conductive
UltraStatic
Control Tiles. All seams were heat welded and the esd
flooring material was installed at temperatures in excess of 100 deg F
PLUS (to help replicate thermal expansion when in use). |
|
One is to place the tiles OVER the
seams in the panels (basically centering a tile over the
crosshatch of 4 panels coming together). This method hides
seams and flaws n the (typically uneven) raised floor BUT
requires more tiles to be pulled when the need arises to get
under the floor. The second method is to center the
tiles DIRECT over the raised access panels. Although the
floor does not look as smooth access to the panels is easy, each
panel can be pulled one at a time. This is the method
chosen by Exxon. they loved the way that chairs rolled on
the tiles, the easy cleanup and clean high tech look. |

Well THESE install photo's are NOT pretty
looking but pretty explanatory of bad installation
techniques and / or materials;)
Hey
United I know now why we should have used you! Can you fix THIS?

ESD Rubber Floor, 4
years after install.
The dark grey
sections are bare concrete and old adhesive, lighter gray is
the 1 meter x 1 meter static dissipative rubber tiles
manufactured by xxxx. Over 50,000 sf of this floor
looks like this shot! ESD rubber has very low
compressive strength and dimensional stability compared to
vinyl. It will not (nor is it recommended) for use
with forklift traffic (unlike vinyl). The adhesive
required for this type of flooring is a 2 part epoxy, very
technique dependant and very hard to achieve consistent
results. Just a few of the reasons we don't support
this product line.
